Remember

How the earth is faithful

As soil sends shoots

Through dark sod

Waves recede and encroach

Pulled by a moon

They do not know

Yet are known by

Rooted yet free

Calling in the low tide

Waking up insects

And seeds asleep in gardens

That need tending

And trees once planted

That now shelter and hold

But never possess

Pulled by shared gravity

Tides and warm air both rising

Breaking into showers

As fronts collide

Dancing together

As waves do

Before slipping back

Vanishing into the churn

As though all this

Was a dream

The refrain of a song

Once forgotten

Answering to sky

Calling to sea
